Fees & Policies

Length of session and fees. 
Individual sessions generally last 50 minutes and are scheduled on an ongoing weekly, bi-monthly or monthly basis. Payment is due at the time of service - we accept cash, checks, Flex plans and most major credit cards.

Individual sessions run $150 for the first initial assessment and $130 for each individual session. Family therapy is $150 per session. We accept CareFirst Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Care First Blue & Federal, Anthem, Magellan, Aetna, Cigna and TriCare insurance. You are just responsible for your co-pay. We are happy to provide a receipt or monthly billing statement that you can submit to another insurance company if you have out-of-network benefits or to your flexible spending account so you can get reimbursed directly.

Cancellations 

Be advised, however, there is a $75 cancellation fee if you cancel without a 24 hour notice. We will forgive the first cancellation; if it is ongoing, please expect a bill in the mail. Feel free to talk to us; we know illness, jobs, child care and weather cause us all difficulty at times. Just be sensitive that our time is as important as yours. 

We protect the confidentiality of the communications with our clients.  We will only release information about our work to others with your written consent or if we are required to do so by a court order.

There are some situations in which we are legally obligated to breach your confidentiality in order to protect others from harm, including (1) if we have information that indicates that a child, elderly or disabled person is being abused, we must report that to the appropriate state agency; and (2) if a client is an imminent risk to him/herself or makes threats of imminent violence against another person, we are required to take protective actions.  These situations rarely occur, but if such a situation does occur, we will make every effort to discuss it with you before taking any action.

Emergencies
We do not provide “24x7” coverage; however we do check our voice mails regularly. If you experience a mental health emergency, please call 911, or go to your local hospital or emergency clinic and give them our number. When we are not available during a planned extended absence (e.g. vacation), backup clinical coverage will be arranged.

Referrals
If we determine that another professional would be able to better help you we will discuss with you and provide the appropriate referrals. We also work closely with psychiatrists in the area for your convenience.

Termination
We would like to offer emotional support to all the phases of your work in therapy, including when you decide to leave therapy. We can support your decision to leave, but it is in your best interest to leave therapy with a discharge plan. Two weeks notice is best, it allows you to leave well and feeling as resourceful as possible.

What can we do to make our treatment more affordable?
Utilize your existing insurance benefits. Whether we are in network or out, we are happy to provide information on how to best obtain any reimbursement that is due you for mental health services.

Schedule less frequently. Many clinicians insist that their clients see them weekly for treatment to be effective, but that is not always necessary and we would be happy to discuss this option with you.

We are a primarily a private pay treatment center and do not accept any type of insurance for groups. Costs associated with care are the responsibility of the client
